Bando opens his eyes and can see, although it's fuzzy. The doctor explains they gave him an artificial hand. Now they're about to start the surgery to castrate him. Bando will have nothing of the sort and punches the doctor hard before escaping through the window.
Kohta can't sleep so he heads over to the school to check on Nyu. There, he finds Prof Kakuzawa's assistant who thinks he's in the lab in the basement. As they walk down the stairs, the assistant informs Kohta that he's been researching a disease that causes horns to stick out of one's head. He's trying to develop a vaccine to eradicate it. Right now, the disease is highly contagious and humans with horns are immediately isolated.
As Lucy walks away from the school, she passes a girl and uses her vectors to reach through the girl's head. The test shows she's still not back to normal.
Downstairs, Kohta calls to Nyu but soon is transfixed by the bloody head lying separate from its body. Fixed atop Prof Kakuzawa's head are two horns. Horrified, the assistant explains that they isolate and kill those with horns because otherwise, they kill humans like this. But it's really weird that Prof Kakuzawa has horns. Why? She tells Kohta to go home and not to tell anyone. She'll take care of things.
Director Kakuzawa is informed that his son is dead and is positive that Lucy must be the culprit. Since Nana fought her, there have been no strange deaths in the area so they couldn't pick up the trail. Number 7 never used her powers against humans but Diclonius are just research materials if they can't reproduce.
Shirakawa can't believe that the Director didn't feel remorse when learning his own son was killed. She then asks Kurama about his family. He explains his own daughter is dead. He killed her with his own hands. His wife, who watched it, then killed herself.
The next day, Kohta explains to Yuka that Nyu ran away so he's going out to look for her. She decides to come too.
Meanwhile, Mayu sees Bando walking on the beach and walks up to him. After a brief exchange, he writes his phone number down and tells her to contact him if she has a problem. He doesn't like being in someone's debt but knows he owes her for saving his life. Before she goes, he asks her if she saw someone with horns around here. She asks if he means Nyu.
As Kohta and Yuka head out looking for Nyu, it begins to rain. They take shelter in the Sasuke Inaru Shrine in the woods. When Yuka shivers, Kohta pulls her onto his lap and hugs her. She asks if he likes her. He apologizes for not remembering the last time they played together but he liked her then. And still does. She kisses him.
Suddenly, Bando becomes aggressive and picks Mayu up by her school uniform, demanding that she spill what she knows. Not sure what to do, she holds up the phone number and asks for help. Bando has a moment of doubt but throws her down and tells her not to show her face to him again.
At the shrine, Yuka tells Kohta that she'd like to stay with him. He kisses her until the rain stops. The two then continue their search for Nyu by heading down the stairs. Lucy watches from the distance and flashes back to when they were kids. Blood was splattered everywhere and chibi Kohta begged her to stop. Suddenly, Kohta turns and runs up to Lucy. Lucy pushes Yuka back with her powers and remembers back to when they were kids. Even then, Kohta ran to Yuka's side. Lucy informs Kohta that her memory has returned and she's going home. He tells her that the Kaeda house is her home. Lucy breaks into tears and begins to explain what happened eight years ago... but switches personalities. Nyu gets up and hugs Kohta. After a quick nod of approval from Yuka, he hugs her back.
Nana flicks on a recorder. Papa explains that he was ordered to kill her but he's going to disobey and allow her to escape. She should be able to control her new limbs and there's enough money for her to live for awhile. Stay low and he'll come get her when he can. As she tries to figure out what to do, Bando sees her and asks about her horns.
