Back in May, Animetique held a contest that asked "Who's your favorite Tekken character and why?" Out of all the responses, 29 characters were mentioned. King took the top spot, narrowly edging out Nina Williams by one vote. Jin Kazama came in a distant third. Others in the top ten included Marshal Law, Anna Williams, Kazuya, Ling Xiaoyu, Christie Monteiro, Feng Wei and Raven.

Here were some of the more interesting responses to why people loved the characters they chose. Some people were pretty passionate - as Michael was for Feng Wei

Feng Wei is my favorite character as you see by my email his ten hit combo is just deadly his moves are power hitters but also can juggle you till your dead. He has that anti hero feel hes kinda like akuma from street fighter all he wants to do is become stronger as in the story shows he even kills his master in combat when he is scolded he then searches for the power the god fist scrolls he can easily become the villan or one of the villans in the next tekken or just the anti hero i say he his hes willing to kill the people who are in his way to power but he also shows mercy or kinda of soft side with his confrontation with asuka he defeats her (she after him for killing her father)lets her live and doesnt really beat her badly (even though we have to find out this is canon in the next tekken to see if he really defeated asuka)its kinda like akuma and ryu relationship he lets her live to become stronger so she can get revenge and also believe he also wants a rival to match his power overrall hes awesome character his outfits when you customize him is awesome you make him look like a bad ass triad member Plus his look is kinda of similar to my favorite character in dynasty warriors lu bu very stong, evil look and force to be reckoned with.

And Allegra was for Jin:

I like Jin Kazama because he learned his badassery from his mom. As a young mom and video game ninja, I hope I can raise my daughter to become proficient in asskickery like Jin.

I imagine that on Mother's Day ,Jin gave his mom a bouquet of shurikens. Awwwww.

Also, Jin's "devil gene" transformation is very awesome.

A couple of others, while not my favorites,would not get kicked out of bed for eating rice crackers.

I would definitely date Hwoarang because he's pretty or Azuka ,because she's pretty and tough. I would follow her fine ass into battle any day.

Shan keeps it in the Mishima family, going with Kazuya

Kazuya Mishima is my favorite why you say because his family is crazzy! Since daddy is Heihachi Mishima, his grandpa is Jinpachi who was a crazy lookin boss. Plus for a time he got with Jun Kazama and had a baby who's Jin Kazama, who's cousin is Asuka Kazama. And on top of that Kazuya got the awesome Devil blood! ...plus he pretty much came back from the death. In other words Kazuya is my favorite becuase he is the root to all this Tekken stuff, besides his daddy even though on the very first Tekken game he wasn't a start off character like Kazuya!(well on the PSX anyway...)

and Elysse says

Mokujin.

My brothers and I used to fight over who got to fihgt (sic) as Mokujin in the the single previous Tekken that we owned. (I don't remember which it was).

Not only is he beyond awesomeness, he comes to life only in the presence of enormous

evils, as if to fight it off. He only lives to destroy evil.

How cool is that!
