The top picks were the Big O, Macross YF-19, The Bebop and various ships from the Gundam series. Here are some other responses:

++++++++++

If I could pilot one mech, it would Freedom Gundam from Gundam SEED Destiny because Freedom can fly fast, with stand the Earth’s atmosphere when it is going into space and can hit multiple enemies at the same time with its advanced targeting system.

++++++++++

Deathscythe from Gundam Wing. It is my favorite because it is equipped with a scythe that can be thrown at the enemies and is nicknamed Shinigami.

++++++++++

I would definitely say i’d like to pilot ‘Wing Gundam Zero’ form the series Gundam wing, even if this series is from way back when i could never imaging myself without piloting this Gundam. Why i would love to pilot this awesome imagination of machinery is because it was designed for war but was used to bring peace, a life changing event that takes the bad and evolves it into good.

++++++++++

If I could pilot one mech or ship from an anime, I would pilot Gundam Maxter from G Gundam, which belongs to Chibodee Crocket. He is my favorite character in the series, and his Gundam kicks butt! It also represents America, well, Neo-America, but still, it’s still cool!

++++++++++

First Choice: The Wingless Flyers from Last Exile they move, swoop, dodge, and dart like nothing else in the sky of any Anime would be perfect for aerial combat (and racing, as demonstrated). 2nd Choice: the runaway spinning engine from Steamboy if you can’t keep it going in a straight line, what hope do your enemies have of hitting you when they shoot?

++++++++++

THE NADESICO FROM MARTIAN SUCESSOR NADESICO!! I love the characters…oh Ruri-chan cracks me up…so if I ever fail as the captain I got her…and Gegkigangar!!! I wanna b captain of Nadesico I think it would be cool to save Earth from Jovian Lizards!! They will suffer!!

++++++++++

I would have to go with the Macross YF-19 Prototype. I like the “Sleek” lines and overall design. I also feel that it has quite a bit of versatility, that would come in handy during a Fire Fight.

++++++++++

It would have to be the Centzon Totochtin (Rabbit) from Ergo Proxy. Riding a wind-powered, anti-grav boat in a post apocalyptic Earth seems much more interesting and fun than a transforming robot ship in space.

++++++++++

~pushes Jean Starwind out of the pilot seat and orders Gilam aound~ Definately the Outlaw Star from the Outlaw Star cuz traveling the galaxy kicking space pirate butt sounds fun!!! an exciting space adventure with a crazy crew what more could i ask for?

++++++++++

I would want to pilot Unit 01, the Evangelion that Shinji pilots from Neon Genesis Evangelion. The abilities of Unit 01 and of the Evangelions in general would be awesome to be a part of.

++++++++++

If I could, I’d pilot Faye’s Redtail from Cowboy Bebop (I hope that counts >.<). I picked this because it is very smart, yes smart. It has the ability to locate you using auto-pilot upon signaling it through your bracelet. I think that would be extremely reliable in tough situations. I’m a girl, so I want something sleek and sexy. =P If it’s good enough for Faye, than it’s good enough for me! The Redtail also has some pretty powerful weapons, and those claws do come in handy! Oh, and not to mention its speed and handling. Yes, it’s definitely made for a woman. =D

Reader Poll: Which Final Fantasy Character Would You Like To Be?

Reader Polls

Cloud Strife

final fantasy

Paine

reader poll

Rikku

Sephiroth

Yuffie
<guid

Here are a couple...

I got a number of great responses to the contest question, which Final Fantasy character would you like to be for a day and why? Here are a couple…

Mog from Final Fantasy III/VI

I am not fast talking or fast dancing, but would very much like to be. Not to mention being short and having wings for a day would be pretty awesome. Ooh, and spears, spears are cool, especially when you’re less than 3′ tall.

Barret Wallace, Final Fantasy VII

He’s the one character who has someone who depends on him the most, a child. He fights hard for her no matter what, and I respect him most of all. He may be brash but his heart is in the right place. Plus I would love to have all those attachments to my arm.

Sephiroth, Final Fantasy VII

If I could be a Final Fantasy Character for a day it would be Sephiroth from Final Fantasy 7, why well that is easy. Not only is he awsome he is strong and looked up to. Well before the fact he became all evil and such. Yet he is such a cool guy, to me who sounds so misunderstood. Yes he can be mean and of course evil because that is what he is but, I don’t know it is tough to really talk about. I just like his personality is really why, he knows who he is and what his goals are unlike Cloud who would have been my second choice. I have seen the movie and loved it, but Cloud he seems just lost and depressed. I don’t really like people like that but Sephiroth on the other hand is godly powerful and he doesn’t really waste it. He isn’t, well I think much of a show off but wants to make his dream a reality. I really like that in a person and that is why I would choose Sephiroth the evil man of all people. Besides the man has got one black wing, who wouldn’t want that along with his extremely long sword that can cut through metal like mere butter.

Cloud Strife, Final Fantasy VII

If I could be a Final Fantasy character for just one day it would be Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII. I choose him because I am a female and I would love to spend a day in a man’s shoes. He looks so cool and he’s mysterious. I’d love to have spikey blond hair, a handsome face, and a fresh cut physique!!! I would strut my stuff and know I was the bomb! Yea, I’d be hot! It would be cool to be cool and ride around in style. I’d be able to kick butt and see what the Shinra building looked like! Then I’d vacation at Costa Del Sol to catch a tan and then hop over to Icycle Inn and hit the slopes. When I am done with that I’d go to Cosmo Canyon and buy stuff and lastly I would go visit the place where Aries died and pay my respects. That would be the life!!!! Oh and you can’t forget Gold Saucer, you bet I’d be there, dude, heck yea! I’d like to be Cloud because he’d have a lot of fun !

Setzer, Final Fantasy III/VI

Probably Setzer (from Final Fantasy 3/6j). It’s a bit silly, but having attacks based on gambling and a giant airship of one’s own is always cool – certainly, he also has his unrequited love for the opera singer, but he’s a strong person, able to move on, and always interested in new things, even to the point where he casts aside his feelings of shock to join up with Terra’s party.

Rikku, Final Fantasy X/X2

I would like to be Rikku from Final Fantasy X and X2 because she’s pretty, but she’s also intelligent and an awesome thief. Also the has really spiffy hair and I could never get my hair to do what hers does and it would be nice to see how it feels.

Yuna, Final Fantasy X

If I could be a Final Fantasy character for a day, I would choose to be Yuna (from Final Fantasy X), because she summons Aeons (and also since she has healing ability to Cure other players from their ailments) making her an ultimate Final Fantasy character.

Paine, Final Fantasy X

I would love to be Paine for a day. She’s brave, she’s tough, her hair has magic holding power and the girl knows hows to handle a sword. She’s more distant than the other girls but underneath the tough exterior is a girl who just wants to have fun and explore.

Yuffie Kisaragi, Final Fantasy VII

Given the choice to be any of the characters from FF, I would have to choose Yuffie Kisaragi from Final Fantasy 7. While it would be interesting to be one of the more beautiful characters, like Tifa and Aeris, I am not into love triangles, beautiful men, and comforting others. I am human. I would, given power, do the same thing Yuffie has done, use others to get what I want.

She is talented, young, and true to who she is. She does not care what you want, who you are, or what you can do, only what you can do for her. I would like to be Yuffie for a day because then I wouldn’t have to live up to the expectations people have about the other characters. If I was anyone else I would be forced to follow the rules, and I am naturally a selfish person, and as I see it, Yuffie is young enough for her faults to be seen as the folly of youth, and old enough to know she is no longer a child, and thus, she can do as she pleases.

If I was Yuffie for a day I would take that day to fix all the problems in my life. I would gain what my heart desired, impress people with my skills, and promise nothing. It would be a relief. Yuffie is loyal when you get down to it, but in the end, she is young, and the young have all the fun. That’s why I would be Yuffie, to have an excuse to forget being a martyr and kick some ass.

Reader Poll: Which Anime Moved You?

Reader Polls

Grave of the Fireflies

Gravitation

Haibane Renmei

Jin Roh

Nausicaa

One Piece

reader poll

Saber Marionette J

Trigun

Wolf's Rain
<guid

Grave of the Fireflies got the most responses by far.

I got a number of great responses to the contest question – “Which anime moved you or made you cry?” Grave of the Fireflies got the most responses by far. The responses contain spoilers for Nausicaa, Wolf’s Rain, Trigun, Grave of the Fireflies, Saber Marionette J, Gravitation, Haibane Renmei, One Piece, and Jin Roh – I’ve labeled them accordingly, so if you don’t want to be spoiled, skip that particular anime.

Nausicaa

In Nausicaa of The Valley of the Wind (Warriors of the Wind) when the princess Nausica is hurt trying to stop the giant insects from the toxic jungle from being hurt and she gets badly hurt herself. Golden tendrils flow up and heal her wounds and she walks along the tops of them later as if walking in a golden field. I just found the scene really touching and I always enjoy when good wins out.

Wolf’s Rain

One scene that really made me cry was on the anime Wolf’s Rain. On the last episode when Blue and Hige died. It was depressing because they were finally starting to get together and then they died horrible deaths. And then at the very end of the episode I cried because everyone came back to life except for Blue.

Trigun

Wolfwood from Trigun, when he was bleeding in the church near the end of the episode. Not only was he my favorite character, he had no reason to die, also he was calm about it, and he wouldn’t be together with Milly.

Grave of the Fireflies

The anime scene that really moved me was in Grave of the Fireflies. The scene that made me cry was when Seita goes out to get food for his sister. They haven’t had anything to eat in weeks, and when he comes back she offers him these little mud balls. She calls them rice balls, and then he notices that she is sucking on something. She was so hungry that she started eating dirt and marbles, thinking they were rice and candy. This scene inspired me because of the look on his face. The way Seita acts. He is caught up in mourning. Nothing else matters but her, and when she dies, his heart just stops working. It is a scene of love, and desperation, and of the people who get pushed aside when wars are done.

The whole movie is hard to deal with. But it is that scene that bring it all home. The one reason he had for surviving, his only family is gone. It inspired me because I wonder if I will ever love someone that much, if I was gone would someone feel that way about me. Love is such a fragile thing, it breaks you. But in that scene, its so human, so childlike, so instinctual to love his sister, that when she is gone, what more is there, what is left for him? I spent a lot of time trying to figure out why the scene made me cry. Its not like I haven’t cried before, but this just, struck something deep inside me. I guess the truth of it is, I understood war as a people left to pick up the pieces, not as a game of chess. It made war real for me. It inspired me to love more, to try and understand another culture, to try and understand the people around me more, because, one day, they might be gone too. Just like that.

Saber Marionette J

The scene from later in Saber Marionette J when Tiger’s maiden circuit got destroyed and Lime ran away not wanting her “heart” anymore. I found the scene emotional. just because of how much meaning it had. “If this is what it feels like to have a heart. then I don’t want one..” Because it shows how while having a heart can help you feel joy and have fun, it also brings pain and unhappiness.

Gravitation

My specific anime scene is from Gravitation Episode 6. It’s at the very end of the episode, It’s when Hiro confronting Yuki and explains how Shuichi took a beating from Ask’s lead vocalist just trying to protect Yuki. Then Hiro grabs Yuki by the coat collar and said’s “I truly blame you the most” Then when Hiro tells that to Yuki he responds and says “Let go and answer me one question.” And Hiro like “what!!”. Then Yuki say’s “This Taki of Ask where is he.” I was like yah you go Yuki go after Shuichi and protect him just like he protected you. I was so happy when he said those words to Hiro i had to rewind it to hear it again and i was like awww that is so romantic and sweet at the same time. It made me cry because I thought that Yuki didn’t like guys but i guess i was wrong. I can’t wait to see what Yuki will do to protect Shuichi in the next episode.

Haibane Renmei

I was truly moved to tears in the “End of Summer – Rain – Loss” episode of Haibane Renmei when Kuu departed on her Day of Flight, leaving poor Reki and all her fellow Haibane behind.

One Piece

In the anime ONE PIECE, in one particular scene during the Alabasta arc, Princess Nefertari Vivi was crying at her inability to save her country, unable to move a giant time bomb that would’ve destroyed everything in a wide radius.

Peru, a royal guard and someone undoubtedly close to Vivi throughout her life, appeared and transforming into bird form, lifted the bomb into the sky to prevent any damage to the city, disregarding the fact that he was likely to die in the process. As he lifted the bomb higher, flashback scenes were shown in which his tenderness and care for his princess throughout her childhood were heavily apparent, making the eventual explosion scene all the more tearful.

It wasn’t hard to sympathize with Vivi’s mournful screaming after the heavy buildup, especially since the effect of Peru’s selfless deed was obvious.

Jin Roh

One of the most moving scenes in anime that I watched was the end sequence of Jin Roh. You watch and hope that the soldier Fuse will leave his government ties and run away with the young woman Kei to happiness. In the end, however, you find that he chooses to stay as a soldier. As Kei watches him leave to massacre a group of government usurers, including Fuse’s former best friend, she learns that he is a government dog a wolf, disguised as a mere man.

And in the final scene, Kei faces Fuse, and starts to recite the end lines of “Little Red Riding Hood”. Everything that has happened in the movie has culminated to this point. the symbolism, the development. She knows that she’s going to die, as she speaks the famous scene, where riding hood asks the wolf dressed as her grandmother, “my, what big teeth you have.” Fuse soon breaks down the stoic façade as he watches the woman he loves speak her death rites, accepting her fate as the riding hood that will be eaten by the wolf standing before her. And, as you hear the gun blast, you see Fuse’s horrified face, pistol in hand, as she falls to the ground.
